The Academic Foundation Program operates as a partnership between the SCO-Scholarship Coordination Office under the auspice of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs and the
UAE
Academy.
The Program is aimed at improving the English and academic skills as a bridge to undergraduate studies at American universities. These include well-known institutions of higher learning such as
Penn
State
University,
University of
Delaware,
University of
Tennessee,
University of
Washington among others. Throughout the 18-week program, the students, most of whom are from
Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, learn academic skills, IT skills, cultural nuances and expectations on American campus, and valuable test-preparation strategies to ensure their success.
Already the Program has worked with more than 60 students and has shown significant impact in raising student TOEFL scores.
